PROMASIDOR NIGERIA POWERS UP WITH SOLAR

by | Oct 2, 2024 | ALL NEWS, CORPORATE NEWS

Promasidor Nigeria’s solar power project was first conceived in September 2023, marking the beginning of a sustainable energy journey. The initial phase involved the installation of 1,120 solar panels on the rooftops of our dry powder, elite warehouse, and Onga5 factory. This innovative setup generates 1000kW of clean electrical energy, seamlessly integrating into our existing electrical network. By harnessing solar power, we significantly reduce our energy costs and carbon emissions, embracing a greener future.

Building on the success of Phase 1, the entire Isolo Solar project is a 2,500kW Power Plant designed to drive sustainable energy solutions. Phase 2, scheduled to commence operations in November 2024, will follow the roof replacement of the raw material warehouse. This phase will inject an additional 1500kW of clean electrical energy into the network, further reducing our carbon footprint and energy costs. With the completion of both phases, we are poised to make a significant impact on the environment while enhancing our operational efficiency.

Encouraged by the benefits of the Isolo Phase 1 solar project, we conceived a plan to extend this sustainable energy solution to our external warehouses in phases. The first phase, comprising Afprint 3 and 5, was successfully installed and commissioned in July 2024. This solar-powered system now energizes the cameras and lighting at these locations, allowing us to shut down generators between 7 pm and 7 am. This significant milestone yields substantial diesel cost savings and aligns with our Environmental Management System (EMS) goals, particularly during nighttime operations.

The next phase of our warehouse solar installation, slated for October 2024, will focus on Afprint 2 and SOS, further solidifying our commitment to renewable energy and environmental stewardship.
