Maiden Edition of the Twisco Independence Day Series kicks off in Freetown

The maiden edition of the Twisco Independence Day Series was successfully held on April 24, 2025, at Fourah Bay College, Freetown. The event brought together over 500 university students around the theme: “The Relevance of Independence to the Youth of Today.”

Sierra Leone gained its independence on April 27, 1961, and in commemoration of this historic event, Twisco a brand marketed and distributed by Premium Divine Trading Company organized this youth-focused empowerment series. The program brought together various universities and youth-led organizations from across the country.

The event featured key discussions led by speakers on topics of national importance:

  • Professor Larkoh spoke on Entrepreneurship and Unemployment.
  • Fatmata Kamara Esq. addressed issues on Law and Justice.
  • Dr. Francis Sowa presented on The Role of the Media, emphasizing the media’s duty to hold government accountable and promote transparency.

Following the lectures, a question-and-answer session on our brands was held. Participants who answered questions correctly were rewarded handsomely with prizes including water heaters, electric cookers, fans, irons, and branded products.

In an interview, the Country Manager of Premium Divine Trading Company, Mr. Kenneth Konuah, stated: There has been a disconnect between industry and the graduates/professionals entering the job market. This is why platforms like this are essential to empower students and youth with the necessary information to connect with today’s industry.” One of the prize winners, Paulina A. Sesay, who won a rice cooker, explained that: The Independence Series is very important. Thanks to the lectures, I believe everyone present has gained a better understanding of their rights and duties as citizens of this nation.
