Promasidor launches “Ikun Milk Day” in Ekiti State, NIgeria

On Wednesday, 28th May 2025, Promasidor Nigeria launched “Ikun Milk Day”, a Corporate Social Responsibility initiative, to give back to the host community of Ikun Dairy Farm (the subsidiary of Promasidor Nigeria) in an impactful and sustainable way, by providing free fresh milk to primary school pupils in Ikun-Amure Ekiti, Ekiti State. The programme, targeted at all primary school children in the community, will provide fresh milk to the pupils and educate them on dairy farming and nutrition.

The event, which stands as a strong testament to Promasidor’s commitment to championing education in Nigeria, was graced by several dignitaries, including the Governor of Ekiti State, His Excellency Abiodun Oyebanji, the Minister of Livestock Development, Alhaji Idi Mukhtar Maiha, represented by Mr. Victor Egbon, Director of Ruminant and Monogastric Livestock Development, the Olojebu of Oke-Ijebu, HRM, Oba Ezekiel Idowu-Awe, and the Onikun of Ikun, Oba Olatunde David Olusola.

Other notable attendees included senior officials of the Ekiti State Government and Promasidor’s leadership team: Eno Udoma-Eniang (Director, Corporate Affairs & IDF), Stanley Eluwa (Director, Human Resources & Corporate Services), Brighton Ochieng (Chief Technical Officer), as well as the acting General Manager, Ikun Dairy Farm, Langton Tizora, among others.

In her welcome address, Dr. Eno Udoma-Eniang, who represented the CEO, Francois Gillet, expressed appreciation to all guests and reaffirmed Promasidor’s dedication to delivering impactful and sustainable initiatives that improve lives. She added that “the significance of this program extends beyond mere distribution of milk as research has shown that proper nutrition is fundamental to cognitive development and academic performance.”

Delivering the keynote address, Governor Oyebanji commended Promasidor for the Ikun Milk Day initiative. “This initiative is not just about milk—it’s about securing the future of our children,” he stated. “Promasidor exemplifies what a true partnership with the people looks like—leveraging local resources to uplift lives. We are proud that Ikun Dairy Farm is central to this transformative mission.” Governor Oyebanji also said that his government would not relent in its efforts to ensure that every child in the state has access to quality education and nutrition, which, according to him, are the bedrock of his administration’s development agenda.

Reinforcing the initiative’s significance, Mr. Egbon highlighted the revitalization of the Ikun Dairy Farm as a milestone in Nigeria’s agricultural sector, praising the partnership between Promasidor and the Ekiti State Government for turning a previously dormant facility into a model of modern dairy production.

Following a vote of thanks by Brighton Ochieng, Governor Oyebanji led a selected group on a tour of the dairy farm. Thereafter, the guests proceeded to AUD-CAC Nursery & Primary School, where the milk distribution to pupils officially began. The Governor ceremoniously cut the ribbon and enjoyed a cup of fresh milk before helping distribute it to the students.
