Promasidor Ghana Lights Up Azizakpe Island with Community Support

The mood in the island of Azizakpe was festive as Promasidor Ghana representatives journeyed more than 105 km by road and water to the island community on a mission deeply rooted in compassion and connection.

Azizakpe is a small island community located in the Ada area of the Greater Accra Region, close to where the Volta River meets the Gulf of Guinea at the Volta estuary. The island inhabitants are mostly fisherfolks and live in houses often built using coconut fronds and thatch.

As the boat loaded with bags of rice, packs of soft drinks, tuna flakes, biscuits, tomato puree and boxes of oil approached the island, the shoreline came alive with community members awaiting the arrival of their guest.

The day ended with shared laughter, an atmosphere of gratitude, impact and a renewed action to show more kindness and empathy.
